Lynxeo FLAMEX® on-board of Desiro HC train for Israël Railways (IRS)

For many years train manufacturers and operators have trusted Lynxeo FLAMEX® cable solutions. Another milestone is reached with the supply of Siemens Mobility’ innovative Desiro HC trains for the state-owned Israel Railways Ltd. (ISR). Both parties have signed a contract for the delivery of 60 Desiro HC regional trainsets.

The double-decker electric multiple units (EMU) are equipped with FLAMEX® control and power cables. FLAMEX® cables are designed to comply with fire safety requirements from the EN 45545-2 (halogen-free, non-toxic, non-corrosive, low smoke, flame and fire retardant). Lynxeo supported the engineering team of Siemens Mobility to assess the electrical design of traction motor cables through a tailor-made dynamic electro-thermal simulation model.

As fire safety and reliability are key aspects in the design of modern rolling stock Siemens Mobility selected FLAMEX® fire resistant cables for safety systems and 25kV assemblies for the pantograph connection. The fire resistant cables are designed to maintain the power supply of on-board key operating systems during fire hazard. Lynxeo medium voltage cables and accessories are particularly well suited for decades of use in all weather conditions as required for rolling stock. By using Lynxeo terminations and T-connectors a completely safe and durable insulation of the 25kV roofline is guaranteed.
